Daily Telephone Game
Ever played that game telephone when you were a kid? If you didn’t, the game goes a little like this: Everyone will get into some sort of line. On one end, the person is given a message and that message must be passed onto all the people within the line by whispering it in the ear of the next person, but it can only be said once. Now the person, listening to the message must make out the words in the whispers, and continue to pass the message along the line. This will repeat itself until the last person on the other end of the line listens to the message and announces it. Usually, the game ends in laughter as the message gets lost within the many ears it passed through and the end result is a rather ridiculous sentence that sounds nothing like the original.
The reason I needed to portray this image is because with any given day, we are simply communicating in a way by the game of telephone. If you think about it, almost everything we say, we got it from someone else. All the news, gossip, and drama that we pass to each other had to come from some sort of source. Perhaps seemingly harmless in the beginning, we all know that the rumor could potentially evolve into some heartbreaking stuff. These horrible statements could cause some pretty interesting events such as fights and competition, and in turn will be the start of more rumors.
Granted, we don’t always go through this ordeal, like I said, this is just some potential of what could happen. Makes me wonder how much of anything we hear is true, considering that most of the stuff we learn to memorize could have been stretched out a bit away from the truth.
